Teen Volunteering: Caring Cards (Grades 6-12)

Tuesdays, January 21 & February 4, 11, 18, 25, 3:30-4:30 pm

Earn an hour of community service by creating uplifting cards for hospitalized kids.  All materials will be provided.  Open to anyone in grades 6-12.  No registration required.

Tween Scene: World Record Challenge (Grades 4-6)

Monday, January 27, 6:00-7:00 pm

Introducing the Tween Scene, a monthly program just for tweens in grades 4-6!  Have you ever wanted to get your name in the Guinness Book of World Records?  Tweens in grades 4-6 are invited to join us as we attempt to break some fun world records at the library.  Please register by visiting the children’s room or calling the library (401-949-3630).

Teen Sensory Friendly Craft (Grades 6-12)

Tuesday, January 28, 3:00-4:00 pm

Teens are invited to relax after school with a mindful craft in a sensory-friendly setting.  Open to ages 11-17. Registration recommended but not required.  Click here if you would like to register.

Teen Volunteering: YA Decorations (Grades 6-12)

Thursday, January 30, 6:00-7:00 pm

Earn an hour of community service by creating decorations and displays for the YA section.  All materials will be provided.  Open to anyone in grades 6-12.  Click here to register.

Magic: The Gathering (Grades 6-12)

Monday, February 3, 6:00-8:00 pm

Play the fantasy trading card game at the library.  We’ll have decks of cards available, or you can bring your own.  Beginners welcome!  Open to anyone entering grades 6-12.  Click here to register.

Teen Advisory Board (Grades 6-12)

Thursday, February 6, 6:00-7:00 pm

Earn volunteer hours by sharing your time and opinions with the YA librarian.  All participants will earn 1 hour of community service.  Open to anyone in grades 6-12.  Click here to register.

Teen Take & Make: Friendship Bracelets

Kits available on Thursday, February 13

Celebrate Palentine’s Day by making friendship bracelets! Each kit contains instructions and enough thread to make 2 bracelets: one to keep and one to give to a friend. No registration required.  Kits will be available in the YA section on a first come, first served basis, while supplies last.

Safe Sitter (Grades 6-8)

Wednesday, February 19, 9:00 am-2:30 pm

Safe Sitter teaches students in grades 6-8 how to safely care for children. Program fee: $50 per student. Scholarships available upon request. Please make checks payable to: The Miriam Hospital. Space is limited and registration is required.  Click here to register starting in February 2025.
