Renewals

Most library materials may be renewed. The library system is currently automatically renewing eligible items. Renewals may not be possible if there is a waiting list for the specific item, or if the owning library does not allow renewals.

Returns

Books may be returned to any public library that participates in the Ocean State Libraries (OSL) system. It is best to check with each owning library about their policies. Some libraries require certain items be returned to their location. When returning materials inside the library please put them in the book drop, do not leave them on the counter.

Book Drop

For your convenience the book drop is open 24 hours a day. It is located to the left of the main entrance of the building. Most items can be returned in the book drop. Telescopes, E-Readers, Museum Passes, and Microwave Leak Detectors must be returned inside the building.

Items returned in the book drop before the library opens will be credited as being returned the previous day. If for any reason the book drop is overflowing please do not leave items outside, hold on to them and contact the library. You will be held responsible for any items left outside.

Reserves

Most circulating materials may be reserved. Some libraries do not allow reserves on their items, and your request may be denied for this reason. If you place a hold on a Greenville item from home, which shows a status of available, please keep in mind that it may not be pulled by the time you come in to pick it up. To ensure your item is waiting for you please call the library and a staff member will be put it aside for you. Items may be reserved over the phone and held up to 7 days. When placing a reserve on an item with an available status at another library the average wait time is 2-5 business days.
